Who We Are

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking a General Maintenance Worker in Atlantic, NC. This position is responsible for performing a broad range of maintenance and repair tasks involving equipment, machinery, plumbing, electrical systems, vehicles, and facilities. The role requires strong practical skills and hands‑on experience.

Under general supervision, the General Maintenance Worker conducts routine, non‑specialized upkeep of target ranges and associated support facilities.

What You Will Do
  • Perform general building maintenance, including painting, welding, carpentry, masonry repairs, structural modifications within designated target areas, and minor electrical repairs as assigned.
  • Conduct corrosion control tasks and complete minor equipment and facility repairs.
  • Maintain grounds across all sites, including grass cutting and weed control.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on the main building air‑conditioning system and replace light fixtures as needed.
  • Conduct minor maintenance and repair of contractor‑ and government‑owned vehicles, including oil changes, cleaning, washing, and waxing.
  • Assist the HVAC/Ground Power Mechanic at MCOLF and JAXDET with maintenance functions as required.
  • Dismantle machinery or equipment under supervision to replace defective parts or motors.
  • Clean and lubricate machine components such as shafts, pulleys, gears, and bearings, and replace machine belts.
  • Remove dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from machines to maintain proper operating conditions.
  • Apply protective coatings and paint to machinery or equipment to prevent corrosion.
  • Cut, bend, and thread pipe; create openings in walls, ceilings, and floors to install piping.
  • Patch and replace plaster as needed.
  • Clear clogged drains and replace basic plumbing fixtures.
  • Support mission operations by assisting with the movement of range assets.
  • Provide courier pickup and delivery services as required.
  • Coordinate procurement or arrangement of POL for vehicles at MCOLF and JAXDET.
  • Perform janitorial and custodial duties as assigned.
  • Complete all assigned training and ensure documentation is properly recorded, including monthly CTTR training in SharePoint, government training in TWMS, and any other assigned one‑time training.
  • Accurately document all work performed in the IEMS system.
  • Work according to schedules established by management based on mission requirements and fleet needs.
  • Support mission readiness by adjusting work schedules as required to meet fleet operations and maintain crew rest standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
What You Must Have
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years related experience.
  • Candidate must have 2 years’ experience in the general maintenance field.
  • Candidate must be a US citizen.
  • Candidate must obtain and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Candidate must possess a valid state Driver’s License and be able to maintain it.
  • Candidate may be required to obtain a Hazmat Endorsement on Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Physical Requirements
  • This position involves lifting and loading materials onto transport vehicles, sorting them by category, and placing them into designated government storage areas in accordance with established procedures.
  • When performing work, the employee must adhere to environmental, safety, and health standards related to the activity, including wearing all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The employee must cease work and notify a lead, supervisor, or manager of all unsafe conditions.
