The Illinois Department of Agriculture is seeking individuals for temporary employment not to exceed six months for the Du Quoin State Fair summer season in the Buildings and Grounds area. Successful candidates will work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment to maintain fairgrounds and additional events.

- Performs unskilled manual labor and simple clerical duties under immediate supervision for a period not to exceed six months.
- Maintains clean, safe, and attractive public and non‑public areas of the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds.
- Sweeps, scrubs, and polishes floors of public and non‑public buildings.
- Moves heavy equipment and office furniture such as chairs, desks, and filing cabinets.
- Completes routine clerical tasks.
- Performs additional duties as reasonably required within the scope of these functions.
- Equivalence of completion of eight (8) years of elementary school.
- Elementary knowledge of materials, tools, equipment, and practices essential to grounds and building maintenance.
- Experience operating simple equipment, machinery, and tools.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Possession of an appropriate and valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to pass a name‑based sex offender registry check.
- Must be able to perform manual labor tasks for up to ten (10) hours a day or more.
- May require a valid driver’s license.
- Job is considered medium work per U.S. Department of Labor (lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent lifting of objects up to 25 pounds).
- May require extensive walking, standing, pushing, and pulling.
- Conditions of employment are integrated with the job duties listed above.
