Schedule:
Rotating 12-hour shifts — Days: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM;
Nights: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM. Candidates must be willing and able to work both day and night shifts. Rotation alternates between 3 days one week (36 hours) and 4 days the following week (48 hours), alternating day and night shift from week to week. Plant operates 24/7. Team consists of 8 operators across 4 shifts. - Work Authorization:

As a Boiler Operator – Building Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining building systems — including boiler systems, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire safety, and HVAC — while ensuring compliance with safety codes, building regulations, and energy efficiency standards. The position is onsite at a large industrial facility and supports preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and inspections. This is a high-visibility, client-facing environment with high performance expectations, and there is an opportunity for temp-to-perm conversion and contract extensions based on performance and business needs.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlant Operations
- Learn and become familiar with all processes associated with the plant.
- Learn and be able to operate Client (Computer Control System) for the plant.
- Learn startup, maintenance, and shut down procedures for all physical plant units and utility systems.
- Operate PAC (Process Automation Control) systems.
- Monitor and run plant utility systems.
- Start up, operate, and shut down boilers as required.
- During summer shutdown periods, boilers may be taken offline and restarted individually.
Water Systems Management
- Responsible for water chemistry and the maintenance of water supply to the plant, boiler, cooling tower, and reverse osmosis.
- Perform chemical testing three times per shift.
- Work with Chem Treat water treatment programs.
- Monitor and control water chemistry.
- Manage water quality from 9 active wells and approximately 20 acres of property.
- Operate reverse osmosis systems used to purify plant water.
- Ensure water supplied to the plant meets quality requirements.
Boiler Operations
- Responsible for operational and maintenance requirements of the physical plant equipment and utilities including but not limited to: water supply, T.O./boiler, dryer system, reverse osmosis, CDI, and other associated equipment.
- Currently running 3 boilers, with current production approximately 30,000 lbs/hour of steam during shutdown periods; capable of producing up to approximately 90,000 lbs/hour of steam during full operations.
Additional Systems
- Monitor well fields.
- Operate approximately 20 plant generators. (Operators run the generators but are not responsible for generator maintenance.)
General Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintenance tasks as needed or assigned by the management staff or their designee.
- Ability to manage multiple complicated priorities/tasks.
- Perform additional duties as requested.
- Keep timely and accurate logs relevant to duties performed.
- Respond to collected data and make adjustments to optimize the equipment for which the boiler operator is responsible.
- Keep plant facilities clean.
- Responsible for notifying Supervisors of any equipment problems.
- Complete any and all tasks assigned by your Supervisor.
- Safe work practices are a condition of employment. Report any safety issues or problems to your Supervisor and Safety Coordinator immediately.
- Maintain a team environment with all other plant employees.
- Qualified Boiler Operators with hands-on boiler operations experience.
