Position: Facility Maintenance Technician (General Maintenance)
Location: Metropolis

HR Consulting Solutions, LLC is a national executive search firm that has been retained by Harper Construction to conduct a search for a full-time Facility Maintenance Technician to join their team in Metropolis, Illinois.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position supports Harper Construction's maintenance operations at the Honeywell facility in Metropolis, Illinois. This role is ideal for an experienced maintenance professional who enjoys a wide variety of hands-on work. The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining buildings, facilities, and surrounding property to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
Compensation: $20.00 per hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform general building maintenance and repairs throughout the facility.
  • Repair walls, ceilings, doors, windows, flooring, trim, and other facility components.
  • Complete basic carpentry, painting, drywall, and minor concrete repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Replace lighting fixtures, light bulbs, ballasts, switches, outlets, and ceiling tiles.
  • Repair leaking faucets, toilets, drains, valves, and other plumbing fixtures.
  • Inspect, lubricate, and perform preventative maintenance on doors, gates, hardware, and other facility components.
  • Assemble, install, and repair shelving, furniture, fixtures, and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Perform minor repairs to industrial doors, gates, fencing, and facility infrastructure.
  • Maintain sidewalks, parking areas, and exterior grounds as needed.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections of the facility and identify maintenance needs.
  • Move furniture, equipment, and materials as needed.
  • Assist with facility clean-up and organization projects.
  • Perform miscellaneous repairs and special projects assigned by management.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of completed work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Minimum of two years of experience performing general maintenance in an industrial, manufacturing, commercial, institutional, or building maintenance environment.
  • Working knowledge of general building maintenance, basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical repair.
  • Ability to identify maintenance issues and perform repairs independently.
  • Experience operating hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other maintenance equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn and safely operate forklifts and aerial lifts (training and certification provided by Harper Construction).
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic, dependability, and attention to detail.

    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
REQUIRED LICENSES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must pass a comprehensive pre-employment drug screen and a criminal background check.
  • Professional appearance and conduct.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Climb ladders and work at elevated heights.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and stoop throughout the workday.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
