POSITION SUMMARY.The Maintenance Staff is responsible for maintaining the functional, safety, and operational condition of Cambridge Lakes Learning Center. This role supports a healthy and welcoming learning environment through consistent facility care, routine maintenance, and compliance with health and safety standards.
PROFESSIONAL STAFF ROLE, REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES.At Cambridge Lakes Learning Center, all staff are learners. In this role, you will,
Facility Upkeep- Maintain the upkeep of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, common areas, and offices according to established schedules, safety standards, and NKEC protocols.
- Monitor and replenish supplies and materials; proactively communicate inventory needs to the supervisor to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Execute repairs and general upkeep tasks, including furniture assembly, fixture maintenance, door hardware, and floor care.
- Monitor facility conditions and promptly report maintenance needs, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor.
- Support setup and breakdown for school events, emergency drills, and seasonal facility needs (e.g., outdoor maintenance).
- Demonstrate proficiency in safe building operations, including proper storage, handling, and disposal of cleaning materials and chemicals per OSHA and NKEC guidelines.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations governing facility safety, chemical handling, and environmental standards.
- Participate in all required safety training, inspections, and compliance activities as directed; model a culture of safety and care throughout the building.
- Operate custodial equipment (floor buffers, wet/dry vacuums, pressure washers, outdoor power equipment, light power equipment) safely and in accordance with training and manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintain assigned equipment in good working order; proactively communicate supply needs and repair requests to ensure facility readiness.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and customer service (UX) in all interactions with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with supervisors and cross-functional colleagues.
- Champion Cambridge Lakes' Professional Excellence Framework and model full engagement in professional responsibilities as outlined in the Guide to Excellence and Employee Handbook.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in building maintenance or facilities operations is a plus.
- 1+ years of experience in facilities maintenance work; experience in a school, childcare, or public-sector facility preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, chemical safety protocols, and basic building systems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Meet the standards outlined in the contract.
- On-site position; regular physical activity including lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, standing for extended periods, and working with cleaning chemicals in varied environmental conditions.
- Schedule may include early morning, evening, or weekend hours based on building needs, events, and emergency response.
