Senior TIG Welder​/Fabricator

Since 1949, Schold has designed and built custom industrial mixing, dispersing, and milling equipment in Bedford Park, IL. Every machine is built to order, giving our welders the opportunity to work on high-quality stainless‑steel equipment rather than repetitive production work. We are seeking an experienced
combo welder/fabricator whose primary responsibility will be precision TIG welding of stainless‑steel process equipment.

A hands‑on TIG welding test will be required during the interview process.

• TIG welding on stainless steel industrial equipment
• Fabrication and assembly of custom tanks, mixers, vessels, frames, and process equipment
• Prep and inspect materials before welding to avoid mistakes
• Produce clean, consistent welds suitable for sanitary and industrial applications
• Weld various material thicknesses while maintaining dimensional accuracy
• Interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and bills of material
• Perform fit‑up, layout, grinding, finishing, and final assembly
• Inspect weld quality and maintain high workmanship standards
• MIG or Stick welding when required for certain projects

• Expert‑level TIG welding experience is required
• Experience welding stainless steel is required
• Experience with sanitary welding is highly preferred
• Experience building custom industrial equipment preferred
• Working knowledge of MIG and Stick welding
• Ability to weld thin and heavy‑gauge materials
• Ability to produce visually clean, structurally sound welds with minimal distortion
• Strong blueprint reading and fabrication skills
• Experience with fitting, measuring, and layout
• Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
• Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
