We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist with strong setup capabilities, advanced milling experience, and a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Position Summary
The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining CNC vertical milling machines in 3, 4, and 5-axis configurations. This role requires experience with complex precision machining, blueprint interpretation, quality inspections, and CNC controls including Fanuc and Mazak systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC vertical milling machines in 3, 4, and 5-axis configurations.
- Perform machine setups, tooling changes, offsets, and program adjustments.
- Utilize G-Code and M-Code programming to support machining operations and setup activities.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and operational issues to ensure production efficiency.
- Inspect first-piece and in-process components using precision measuring instruments.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
- Maintain accurate production records utilizing shop floor management software.
- Assist in training and mentoring less experienced machinists and operators.
- Collaborate with supervisors and leadership regarding process improvements and machine performance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Support company safety initiatives and comply with all safety regulations and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3-5+ years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Experience setting up and operating CNC vertical mills.
- Proficiency with Fanuc and/or Mazak controls.
- Experience with G-Code and M-Code programming.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, feeds, speeds, and work holding.
- Experience using precision inspection equipment including:
- Micrometers (outside, inside, and depth)
- Calipers
- Dial indicators
- Height gauges
- Dial bore gauges
- Strong shop math skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Machinist Certificate, MIMS Certification, or related technical training.
- Experience machining complex 3D tooling and mold components.
- Experience with 4th and 5th-axis machining.
- Manual machining experience.
- Mold manufacturing, tooling, or tool room experience.
- Continuous Improvement or Lean Manufacturing experience.
