Position: Research Analyst, Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM)
Location: Rosemont

You have a strong interest in evidence-based medicine, a drive to understand what the data is really showing, and the communication skills to help physician work groups turn research into meaningful guidance for musculoskeletal care.

As the Research Analyst, Evidence-Based Medicine, you will participate in the development of clinical practice guidelines, systematic literature reviews, evidence summaries, technology overviews, and appropriate use criteria. You will critically evaluate published studies, abstract key information, apply statistical methods to analyze evidence, and prepare written commentaries and data summaries for physician work groups and panels.

In this role, you will use data from published clinical research and apply sound, rigorous evaluation to produce professional reports for AAOS Appropriate Use Criteria, Technology Overviews, Systematic Literature Reviews, Evidence Summaries, and Clinical Practice Guidelines, helping ensure the information is clear, accurate, evidence-based, and publication ready.

  • Critically evaluate the applicability, quality, conduct, and analysis of published clinical research studies.
  • Abstract information and data from peer-reviewed clinical research studies to support literature reviews and evidence-based products.
  • Perform statistical analysis, including meta-analysis and statistical re-analysis of results reported in published literature.
  • Communicate the strengths and weaknesses of clinical studies and prepare evidence summary reports.
  • Provide technical and administrative support for workgroup meetings and conference calls.
  • Respond to workgroup feedback and questions related to evidence and data reports.
  • Maintain reports and update content to reflect workgroup feedback and corrective edits.
  • Stay current on evidence appraisal, appropriateness methods, qualitative and quantitative research methods, musculoskeletal research, and other relevant clinical medicine topics.
Qualifications:

Required:
  • Master’s degree in health sciences, life sciences, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
  • Ability to understand and critically evaluate how clinical studies are designed, conducted, and analyzed.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, including t-tests, chi-square tests, and analysis of variance.
  • Ability to read and understand articles published in peer-reviewed medical journals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Desired:
  • At least one year of experience preparing systematic literature reviews.
  • Experience using statistical software such as Stata, SPSS, or SAS.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based medicine processes, including RAND/UCLA Appropriateness Method or other Delphi-style methods for gathering expert input.
  • Familiarity with survey research methods and analysis.
Travel:
  • Up to 5 days per year.

Salary Range: $67,000-$69,000, depending on qualifications and experience.

This hybrid position is based in Rosemont, Illinois and requires the ability to commute to the office at least twice per week.
