Overview
The Warehouse and Inventory Associate supports the daily operations of the warehouse by receiving, storing, organizing, and picking products while maintaining inventory accuracy, food safety, and warehouse organization. This role plays a critical part in ensuring production needs are fulfilled accurately and on time while supporting inventory control, material movement, cold-chain compliance, and overall warehouse efficiency.
The Warehouse and Inventory Associate works closely with the Warehouse and Fulfillment Manager, Production, Procurement, Quality Assurance, and Product Development to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient operation.
Responsibilities
Receiving & Inventory
- Receive raw materials, packaging, and finished goods while verifying quantities, product condition, and documentation.
- Properly label, organize, and store inventory according to company procedures.
- Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts, spot checks, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Rotate inventory using FIFO principles.
- Report inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, or quality concerns to management.
Warehouse Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
- Move products and packaging throughout the facility to support production and fulfillment operations.
- Maintain proper storage conditions for refrigerated and frozen products.
- Safely operate pallet jacks, forklifts, reach trucks, or other warehouse equipment (as trained).
Outbound Order Preparation
- Assist with palletizing customer and retail orders and accurately label completed pallets.
- Stage and load shipments onto the correct outbound trucks to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), SQF requirements, food safety procedures, and company policies.
- Maintain cold-chain integrity by properly handling refrigerated and frozen products, packaging, and dry ice.
- Report any food safety, quality, inventory, or equipment concerns immediately.
Teamwork & Continuous Improvement
- Work collaboratively with Warehouse, Production, Procurement, QA, and Product Development teams.
- Assist with product launches, inventory projects, warehouse organization, and process improvements.
- Support additional warehouse and fulfillment responsibilities as business needs evolve.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2 - 3 years of warehouse, inventory, fulfillment, shipping, or logistics experience, preferably in food manufacturing or direct-to-consumer operations.
- Ability to work safely and comfortably in refrigerated and freezer (-10F) environments for extended periods while following all food safety and cold-chain procedures.
- Experience operating warehouse material handling equipment, including a stand-up reach truck; current certification preferred or ability to become certified.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and perform frequent bending, reaching, standing, and walking throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting productivity, quality, and safety expectations.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or flexible schedules as needed to support business demands.
