Become a part of our Transdev team as an Assistant Maintenance Manager in El Centro, CA. This position assists the Maintenance Manager in supervising the maintenance and repair operations of fixed route, paratransit, and support vehicles, overseeing sixty-three (63) vehicles and eleven (11) maintenance employees. The role requires effective leadership, communication, and the ability to ensure timely and efficient maintenance in the Maintenance Manager’s absence.

  • Competitive compensation package: annual salary ranging from $70,304 to $84,000
  • Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks

Major Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and supervise maintenance staff.
  • Ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
  • Manage equipment, parts, and supplies inventories.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify maintenance needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and equipment history.
  • Input data into the maintenance software database ensuring accuracy and timeliness for reporting purposes.
  • Assist in procurement of parts and manage parts inventory.
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with professional and ethical conduct standards.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned to ensure efficient operation of the maintenance department.
Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.

Minimum Experience & Skills
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a maintenance environment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years dealing with heavy equipment, preferably experience with CNG transit buses.
  • Experience working with unions in the transportation industry.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Experience supervising employees on multiple shifts.
  • Solid computer skills in standard office tools (word processing, spreadsheets) and web-based systems.
  • Detail oriented, well organized, with effective time management skills.
  • Flexible to work varying hours or shifts.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Move about the office and between floors; utilize standard office equipment and filing systems.
  • Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, lifting of light and heavy objects, climbing ladders/stairs/ramps or scaffolding, and using tools requiring manual dexterity.
  • Regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move more than 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work performed with exposure to noise, chemicals, noxious odors, gases, poor ventilation, inclement weather, grease, dust, and machinery with moving parts requiring protective devices.
