Position: Maintenance Worker- Full Time

Overview

Participates in the activities involved in maintaining hospital buildings and equipment, construction, and the maintenance of hospital grounds. OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens III.

Job Qualifications
    • Education: High School Graduate or equivalent
    • Personal job-related skills: Knowledge of maintenance, grounds keeping and construction methods. Effective oral and written communication skills.
      Mathematical skills and reasoning ability a must. Ability to drive and operate ground keeping equipment.
    • Licensure, registry or certification: Vaild Drivers license

      Work Experience:

      Two years experience in maintenance operations. Trade school or technical courses in maintenance and repair preferred.
    • Technical Training:None Required.
    • Physical and Mental Requirements: Position requires extended periods of walking and standing. Bending, stooping, reaching, and crawling required in performing maintenance. Pushing, pulling, and carrying with lifting from 50 up to 300 pounds when moving equipment or supplies. The ability to comprehend and follow routine written or verbal instructions or directions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Participates in the maintenance of facilities and equipment.

Performs preventive maintenance and required unscheduled maintenance.

Participates in maintaining the electrical and plumbing system of the hospital.

Maintains inventory levels of supplies and equipment

Advises of needed supplies and equipment

Receives and accounts for supplies and equipment and assures cost effective use.

Advises of needed tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations

Performs duties as directed to assist in the maintenance and repair of hospital building

Confers with Plant Services Director to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.

Seeks new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.

Reviews and discusses equipment needs and modifications with Plant Services Director.

Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.

Paints interior and exterior walls, ceilings, and trim using brushes, rollers, and sprayers

Moves and assembles scaffolding used in painting or repair work.

Does carpentry repair and minor construction projects.

Performs duties for electrical, mechanical, or refrigeration installation or repair projects.

Sorts and stocks supplies and equipment.

Places supplies and equipment received into proper storage areas.

Performs accountability and record keeping on supplies and equipment.

Maintains hospital grounds

Mows, edges, fertilizes, and irrigates lawn areas.

Cultivates, replants, fertilizes, and irrigates beds.

Prunes, fertilizes, and irrigates trees and shrubs.

Collects trash and other debris and disposes of it in a collection area.

Operates and maintains grounds keeping equipment

Operates tractor, pickup truck, and mowers to perform groundskeeping duties.

Performs minor maintenance on equipment and advises the Plant Services Director of major problems.

Requests and stocks groundskeeping supplies.

Assists in determining fertilizer needs and stock levels.

Recommends small groundskeeping tools needed and controls their storage and use.

Other Significant Requirements:

  • Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
