Starts at $30.00/hr.

Job Summary
To maintain Ammonia Refrigeration equipment, and perform maintenance activities for buildings and equipment in order to support facility operations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Complete proper and timely preventative maintenance to ensure equipment and systems in the ammonia refrigeration system (such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, vessels, valves, purgers, etc.) operate efficiently, properly, and safely while also minimizing downtime.
  • Replace defective refrigeration equipment as needed.
  • Control the equipment temperature set points to accommodate the needs of our customers and maintain the integrity of the product.
  • Maintain control of the water treatment system and associated chemicals.
  • Ensure all paperwork and reports are accurate, completed on time and meet OSHA and EPA regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor third party maintenance vendors working near or with ammonia refrigeration system to ensure compliance with company, OSHA, and EPA safety policies.
  • Perform ammonia and oil sampling for analysis on a regular schedule.
  • Train team members on ammonia leak and spill procedures, coaching those team members who require additional training to meet the standard.
  • Participate in leak and spill drills to meet requirements.
  • Actively participate in Emergency Response planning for location.
  • Inspect, test and calibrate ammonia detection system as needed.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Education – High school diploma or GED. College coursework, continuing technical education or comparable business experience, documented electrical certification experience 480/ 3 phase and control voltage preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years Ammonia Refrigeration experience required.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM), or ability to receive in-house PSM training within 90 days required.
  • Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator (CARO) Level 1 certification from RETA or Refrigeration Operator Class 1 license or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire required.
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) preferred.
  • Ability to complete 24 Emergency Training Course within 90 days of hire required.
  • Ability to complete the 8 hour Emergency Training refresher course annually required.
  • Ability to read and interpret Process and Identification drawings, Piping and Instrumentation diagrams.
  • Ability to use measuring tools including dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, pressure gauges, etc.
  • Ability to operate forklift, reach truck and Hi-Lo safely and accurately.
  • Proficiency with computers, email, word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Able to read and write in English and speak English; able to accommodate flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to travel – minimal.
