Role Description The Senior Steward role at Stonehedge Ladakh is a contract, on-site position based in Leh. The Senior Steward is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of the kitchen, dishwashing, and back-of-house areas, ensuring all equipment and utensils are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained. This role coordinates daily stewarding operations, supports food and beverage service teams, and ensures compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
The Senior Steward also assists with inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, helps manage waste disposal and recycling procedures, and reports maintenance needs promptly. In addition, the role may involve guiding and training junior stewards, supporting smooth meal service during peak hours, and collaborating closely with kitchen and service staff to maintain high standards of guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
Strong customer service and communication skills to support internal teams and contribute to positive guest experiences.
Practical experience in food & beverage and food service operations, especially within hotel, resort, or restaurant environments.
Ability to train and mentor junior team members in stewarding procedures, hygiene standards, and safe equipment handling.
Knowledge of kitchen hygiene, food safety, and sanitation practices, including proper cleaning and storage of equipment.
Previous experience in a steward or senior steward role, preferably in hospitality or similar settings.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently during busy service periods.
Comfort working on-site in Leh and adaptability to local climate and working conditions.
Basic education; additional certification in hospitality, food safety, or housekeeping is an advantage.
