Quality Engineer

Our clients are searching for a Maintenance Supervisor who will play a critical role in maintaining the continuous operation, reliability, and efficiency of high-speed protein processing equipment, utility systems, and facility infrastructure. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this leadership role is responsible for directing a team of multi-skilled maintenance technicians, overseeing preventative and predictive maintenance (PM/PdM) programs, and executing rapid emergency repairs to minimize production downtime.

The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, hands‑on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting expertise, and deep knowledge of USDA‑regulated food manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise, coach, and deploy a team of maintenance mechanics, electricians, and technicians across scheduled operational shifts.
• Manage shift schedules, task assignments, work order priorities, and labor allocation to ensure maximum facility uptime.
• Foster a strong culture of safety, ensuring strict adherence to OSHA compliance, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash safety, Confined Space Entry, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
• Oversee execution of preventative and predictive maintenance programs via the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) (e.g., SAP, Maximo).
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated systems (including PLCs, conveyers, motors, slaughter/evisceration lines, debone lines, and packaging machinery).
• Analyze breakdown root causes (RCFA) to prevent recurring equipment failures and extend component lifecycle.
• Ensure all maintenance practices conform to USDA‑FSIS, HACCP, SQF/BRC, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Partner with Sanitation and Quality Assurance teams to ensure sanitary design principles and proper equipment tear‑down and reassembly prior to pre‑operational inspection.
• Support facility environmental safety standards, including ammonia refrigeration system monitoring (PSM/RMP) where applicable.
• Review and approve work orders, ensuring proper documentation of labor hours, replacement parts used, and job descriptions in the CMMS.
• Work with the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler and Storeroom Coordinator to maintain inventory levels for critical spare parts.
• Assist in installing, commissioning, and testing new processing lines and plant automation projects.

Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technology, or trade certification preferred.
• 3+ years of maintenance leadership/supervisory experience in a food manufacturing or protein processing facility.
• Demonstrated knowledge of 3-phase electrical systems (up to 480V), motors, VFDs, and PLC troubleshooting (Allen‑Bradley preferred).
• Hands‑on mechanical experience with pumps, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and high-speed packaging equipment.
• Deep working knowledge of USDA, HACCP, GMPs, OSHA, and sanitary maintenance practices.
• Proficient with CMMS platforms (e.g., SAP, Infor, Maximo) for work order and inventory tracking.
• Ammonia Refrigeration / PSM experience (RETA certification is a strong plus).
• Lean Manufacturing / TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) background.
