POSITION: Maintenance/HVAC Technician

REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance

SALARY RANGE: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour

Days: 261 days (12 Holidays)

Hours: 8 hours per day (Some overtime may be required at times)

POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide/maintain a safe and attractive environment at all school buildings and outdoor athletic fields/areas to the highest level of expectation. Handle standard HVAC maintenance and minor repairs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Primary Duties
  • Basic Maintenance of all Lakeland School Corp buildings and properties including but not limited to: oiling of motors, changing filters, washing/cleaning chillers/air handlers and other HVAC units on the campus, changing light fixtures, changing outlets and switches, cleaning of mechanical rooms, minor plumping repairs, hanging and removal of white boards and bulletin boards in classrooms.
  • Assist in Custodial duties when directed
  • Service and repair HVAC systems
  • Maintenance of Custodial equipment
  • Data entry for preventive maintenance program when available
  • Make recommendations for replacement of equipment
  • All other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Drivers License
  • Ability to get forklift/aerial lift certified
  • Possess skills necessary to operate and maintain existing grounds care equipment
  • Possess skills to complete summer lawn/ property maintenance as well as winter snow removal
  • and salting.
  • Possess skills to complete minor building maintenance tasks.
  • Possess skills to complete minor construction projects.
  • Possess skills to diagnose/fix problems that arise on a daily basis.
  • Possess skills to communicate effectively and proficiently with all faculty, staff and students.
  • Possess skills to order and maintain stock of necessary supplies via computer/phone ordering. Ability to perform all outside duties assigned at the level of expectation set by management. Personal investment in quality of workmanship. Demonstrate the ability to work unsupervised. Being self-motivated.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE: Related job fieldwork experience with demonstrated ability to work without constant supervision.

REQUIRED PHYSICAL SKILLS: Lifting up to 50 lbs.; carrying, moving equipment pushing/pulling carts and general lifting. Full use of both hands, feet, arms, and legs. Ability to ascend and descend ladders and use of genie lifts for high ceiling bulb changes and other required maintenance tasks.

REQUIRED GENERAL SKILLS: Complete assigned tasks without constant supervision;
Ability to reason independent of supervisors input;
Generally accepted communication skills. Be compliant with all regulations regarding confidentiality of school business.
