Job Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Trailer Foreman to lead our trailer repair team. The ideal candidate will supervise technicians, ensure high-quality repairs, and maintain safety standards while optimizing workflow in the trailer department.
Core Functions- Work Order and Documentation Management: Maintain accurate paperwork and support workflow across the Service Department. Review and verify work orders with technicians to confirm scope, hours, and required sign‑off prior to work. Update Karmak (BI, bay assignments, job status) and complete Technician 101 and Karmak reconciliation before the next shift.
- Job Oversight and Coordination: Monitor labor hours and material usage against estimates and assist with customer follow‑up as needed. Coordinate with parts to ensure material availability and support technicians by removing obstacles, assisting with troubleshooting, and promoting timely job completion. Monitor overtime and implement corrective actions.
- Communication and Issue Escalation: Report labor and material discrepancies to the Service Manager promptly. Notify the Manager and/or Estimator of repair changes and provide details for re‑quoting and customer approval. Follow up with technicians to ensure alignment with timelines and repair expectations.
- Quality Control and Completion: Perform daily quality checks and assist with final inspections. Review and sign‑off on work orders to confirm completion per scope. Verify material usage, technician documentation, and hours, then submit finalized work orders to the completed queue.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor technician performance, attendance, and quality of work. Provide feedback and recommendations to improve efficiency and document recurring issues to support accountability and continuous improvement.
- Safety and Workplace Standards: Adhere to safety policies, participate in safety meetings, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in trailer repair with prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of trailer systems, including brake and electrical.
- Leadership and communication skills.
- Problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Must be able to lift/carry 100+ lbs infrequently.
- Prolonged periods of walking and standing.
