St. Barnabas Catholic Church and School, a vibrant and growing parish community on the southside of Indianapolis, is seeking a hands‑on Director of Facilities & Maintenance to oversee the care, maintenance, and operation of parish and school facilities, grounds, and equipment.
The Director of Facilities & Maintenance is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation, repair, and preventive maintenance of all parish and school buildings, grounds, mechanical systems, and equipment. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem‑solver with strong technical skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
This position requires hands‑on involvement in repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
Responsibilities- Perform and oversee repairs and preventive maintenance for parish and school buildings, grounds, and equipment
- Maintain and troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, and mechanical systems
- Coordinate routine inspections and ensure proper functioning of all facility systems
- Monitor and maintain safe and clean building conditions throughout the campus
- Prioritize and respond to maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner
- Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors as needed
- Ensure compliance with all fire, safety, health, and environmental regulations
- Maintain maintenance records, schedules, and inventory of supplies and equipment
- Assist with setup and support for parish, school, and community events
- Participate in emergency response and after‑hours maintenance needs when necessary
- Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on facilities or maintenance experience preferred
- Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing systems, HVAC systems, lighting and mechanical equipment
- Ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs independently
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
- Knowledge of applicable fire, safety, and health regulations
- Ability to lift, carry, climb ladders, and perform physical maintenance duties
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license required
- Experience in school, parish, commercial, or institutional facilities preferred
