Day Porter/Custodian
Hourly (Non-exempt)
$18.24 to $19.34 (based on experience and education)
1ST Shift hours 7:00 a.m. to 3:30
8 Hours daily/260 days yearly

Custodial and Staffing Manager and Building Principal

Summary:
Keeps school building or similar buildings in clean, safe and orderly condition by performing the responsibilities listed below.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Applicants must have good oral communication skills (listening, questioning, clarifying and responsiveness)
- Applicants must possess the ability to work in a team environment and create positive, cooperative, and professional relationships.

Responsibilities:
- Maintains all equipment and tools necessary to perform the responsibilities of the position.
- Inspects equipment for safe and efficient operations.
- Maintains proper records of preventive maintenance schedules.
- Initiates and completes assigned projects in a timely manner.
- Works without constant supervision.
- Promotes good relations and displays a positive image with parents, students, and staff.
- Performs routine custodial activities individually or as a part of a crew at an assigned facility.
- Cleans classrooms, cafeterias, lounges, offices, facilities, and adjacent grounds as assigned.
- Operates custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, strippers, steam cleaners, small hand and power tools, buffer/scrubber machines and other equipment as assigned.
- Uses proper procedures when cleaning bodily fluid spills.
- Complies with safety regulations concerning the mixing, storage and handling of chemical supplies.
- Sweep, scrub, mop, strip, wax and polish floors.
- Vacuum rugs and carpets in classrooms, offices, workshops and other assigned areas in the building.
- Spot clean and shampoo carpets.
- Empty waste receptacles as needed.
- Assists in the daily student arrival and departure activities as assigned.
- Removes gum and graffiti as necessary.
- Cleans and disinfects drinking fountains and restroom facilities including sinks, toilets and urinals.
- Fills dispensers with towels, soap, toilet paper and other items.
- Cleans mirrors, tile and windows.
- Unclogs drains and toilets as needed.
- Picks up paper and other debris from school grounds, walkways, and areas adjacent to the school facilities.
- Sweep concrete surfaces adjacent to the school or building facility.
- Cleans tables, chairs and floors after breakfast, lunch and all periods as assigned.
- Locks and unlocks doors and gates and sets alarms as appropriate.
- Maintains security of assigned areas according to established guidelines.
- Moves and arranges furniture and equipment for meetings and special events; prepares classroom and multipurpose rooms for special events; cleans up furniture equipment and debris following any events.
- Monitors inventory levels of custodial supplies and equipment as directed, communicating the need for supplies and equipment to the supervisor.
- Reports immediately any issues that may have an impact to the school, student or employee safety to the building administrator and/or immediate supervisor.
- Performs other reasonable duties as assigned by custodial supervisor, facilities operations manager and/or building principal.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
