ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

The Cleaning Supervisor will provide a comprehensive service ensuring a high-quality standard is delivered to the client. You will represent ABM as part of an onsite team providing cleaning services and other ad hoc tasks whilst maintaining a professional image to our staff, suppliers, clients and our clients’ customers at all times. You are responsible for general upkeep for and appearance of building (floors, toilets, lifts, bins, etc.)

and surrounding areas, ensuring they are maintained in accordance with ABM and our clients’ required standards. Reporting to ABM nominated managers you will cultivate relationships with our clients and managers alongside staff, to ensure an efficient and consistent level of operational performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee daily activities of cleaners, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to standard.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness meets required standards and address any deficiencies.
  • Allocate duties and create rotas to ensure coverage across all areas and shifts.
  • Provide onboarding and ongoing training in cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and equipment use.
  • Ensure cleaning materials and equipment are stocked, maintained, and used correctly.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure staff follow COSHH and other relevant regulations.
  • Maintain records of cleaning schedules, inspections, incidents, and staff performance.
  • Communicate with site managers or clients to understand expectations and resolve issues.
  • Address attendance, performance, or conduct issues among cleaning staff professionally.
  • Assist with cleaning duties when needed, especially during staff shortages or emergencies.
    • Any other reasonable associated tasks as directed by the ABM nominated supervisors and managers.
    • Ensure work area is clean, well maintained and all equipment is secure.
    • To be flexible and responsive to changing priorities fulfilling requirements.
    • To be knowledgeable of all cleaning related tasks, so that at the commencement of the shift, current scheduled activity is supported, without the need for specific direction.
    • Prioritise jobs according to urgency allowing duties to be completed with any time allocations to the necessary quality, planning around periodic tasks.
    • Communicate regularly with ABM nominated supervisors and managers to obtain feedback on quality, service and care.
    • Undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post.
    • To achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales.
    • To contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the teams in which you work.
    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    A reliable and flexible approach, as some tasks can only be carried out in daylight or at night.

    • Ensure all health and safety procedures are applied in complying with legislation and company policy and procedure.
    • An ability to work under pressure.
    • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • IOSH working safely.
    ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
    • To successfully pass extensive screening and vetting.
    • Knowledge of cleaning methods or a willingness to learn.
    • High attention to detail.
    • This is an active role that requires you to be physically fit.
    • Executing duties in a manner which minimises the incidents and accidents within your Department.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
