Geiger & Peters is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Lead to provide technical leadership and hands-on maintenance support for our structural steel fabrication and manufacturing operations. This position serves as a key technical resource within the maintenance department, helping ensure production equipment, facility systems, cranes, and material handling equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled maintenance professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex equipment, mentoring technicians, coordinating maintenance activities, and supporting equipment reliability initiatives. The Industrial Maintenance Lead serves as a bridge between maintenance technicians and maintenance leadership, helping drive operational performance, equipment uptime, and continuous improvement efforts.

What You'll Do
  • Serve as the lead technical resource for maintenance technicians and provide guidance on troubleshooting, repair procedures, and maintenance best practices.
  • Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment, fabrication machinery, cranes, conveyors, welding equipment, and facility systems.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated equipment issues.
  • Coordinate and support daily maintenance activities to ensure timely completion of repairs and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Serve as the primary maintenance contact during assigned shifts when maintenance leadership is not present.
  • Assist in coordinating maintenance response efforts during equipment breakdowns and production interruptions.
  • Train, mentor, and support maintenance technicians in developing technical skills and maintenance knowledge.
  • Monitor equipment conditions and communicate maintenance concerns, recurring issues, and improvement opportunities to maintenance leadership.
  • Support equipment upgrades, facility improvements, major repairs, and maintenance-related projects.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence throughout maintenance operations.
Qualifications Required
  • Five (5) or more years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing, fabrication, heavy industrial, or related environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience working with industrial equipment and manufacturing systems.
  • Strong understanding of preventative maintenance programs and maintenance troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, technical drawings, and maintenance documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and mentor maintenance personnel.
  • Proficiency with maintenance documentation systems and basic computer applications.
Preferred
  • Experience in heavy manufacturing or industrial construction environments.
  • Experience with overhead cranes, material handling systems, and fabrication equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Inverters, automation systems, and controls troubleshooting.
  • Welding and fabrication experience a plus
  • Experience serving as a lead technician, crew leader, maintenance team lead, or similar technical leadership role.
  • Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Manufacturing Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology or Technical Trade School + Years’ work experience
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and move throughout manufacturing and fabrication facilities.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair equipment throughout the facility.
  • Ability to access elevated platforms, maintenance work areas, and industrial equipment safely.
  • Ability to work around production equipment and in varying industrial conditions and environments.
