Trinity Episcopal Church and St. Richard's Episcopal School are hiring an Assistant Director of Facilities to help lead the daily care, maintenance, readiness, and long-term stewardship of our Indianapolis campus.

This is a hands‑on facilities leadership role for someone who can move comfortably between practical building work, staff supervision, vendor coordination, event readiness, safety, hospitality, and planning. The position reports to the Director of Facilities, supervises the Maintenance Technician and Housekeeper, and is designed as a succession role. Over approximately 24 months, the Assistant Director will progressively assume broader responsibility so they are prepared to move into the Director of Facilities role, subject to performance, organizational needs, and leadership approval.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily campus operations for church and school buildings, grounds, mechanical spaces, equipment, furniture, fixtures, and event spaces.
  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance and housekeeping work, with an emphasis on accountability, teamwork, hospitality, and follow-through.
  • Use the church and school calendar to anticipate setup, teardown, cleaning, HVAC, access, security, and room‑readiness needs.
  • Manage work orders and service requests, communicate clearly with requestors, and keep the Director of Facilities informed of priorities and risks.
  • Support preventive maintenance, safety inspections, vendor coordination, contractor oversight, supply inventory, and project documentation.
  • Assist with operating and capital budget planning, expense tracking, project prioritization, and wise stewardship of resources.
  • Perform or coordinate practical maintenance work involving basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, grounds, custodial, lighting, furniture, and repair needs.
  • Support weather, seasonal, after‑hours, emergency, and special‑event needs as required.
Qualifications
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, custodial operations, grounds, construction support, or a related field.
  • Supervisory, lead‑worker, project‑lead, or team‑coordination experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of basic building systems and facilities practices, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, grounds, custodial work, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
  • Strong communication, organization, prioritization, judgment, and follow‑through.
  • Experience with work‑order systems, maintenance calendars, vendor coordination, inspections, budget tracking, or project notes preferred.
  • Respectful presence in a church and school setting, including appropriate discretion and boundaries with children, families, parishioners, clergy, staff, and visitors.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including lifting and moving up to 50 pounds and working indoors and outdoors in varied conditions.
  • Valid driver license preferred; background checks and required child‑safety and workplace‑safety trainings are required.
Compensation and schedule

This is a full‑time, salaried, exempt, on‑site position in Indianapolis. Starting salary is $60,000 annually. The base schedule is Monday‑Friday, with flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends, weather‑related needs, emergencies, and special events.
