Job Role Summary

The Fleet Logistics Technician is responsible for performing routine safety inspections and basic preventative maintenance on all fleet vehicles and equipment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Under general supervision safely and competently perform routine safety inspections and basic preventative maintenance on all fleet vehicles and equipment.

1.Check, and Fill or refer for service as appropriate

* Engine Oil

* Transmission fluid

* Brake Fluid

* Windshield Washer Fluids

* Diesel Emission Control Fluids

* Fuel, Gasoline

* Fuel, Diesel

* Fuel, Liquid Propane

* Fuel, CNG

* Engine coolant

2. Change Engine and Ambulance batteries that do not require heavy disassembly or lifts to access

3. Inspect, test and replace standard vehicle lights as needed

* Headlamp

* Tail Lamp

* Clearance lamp

4.Replace designated emergency warning lights

5.Assess and replace automotive fuses

6.Assess and replace windshield wipers

7.Adjust manual valves for heat / AC swaps in seasonal ambulance switchovers

8.Repair or replace plugs and sockets on heavy duty shore line cords

9.Perform drive tests and evaluate general status of vehicles running condition.

10.Assess tire for tread depth, excess or uneven wear, and damage.

11.Safely utilize vehicle lift for inspections of vehicle tires and undercarriage.

12.Inspect safety and restraint systems and refer deficiencies for service

* Inform appropriate EMS Section Chief if damage or deficiencies of vehicles or equipment is found; appropriately documents observations.

* Keep up-to-date with the service and operation of equipment and vehicles by participating in educational programs and in-service meetings

* Provide thoughtful feedback and suggestions based on accumulating work experiences.

* Attend meetings as required

* Maintain a safe, secure and clean environment that is compliant to all regulations; performs routine cleaning, sweeping, and de-cluttering of garage floors

* Maintain stock levels in designated EMS vehicles by ordering, receiving and stocking parts, supplies, and equipment as needed.

* Coordinate vehicle deliveries to facilitate routine maintenance scheduled through EMS Fleet Section Chief.

* Communicate accurate and detailed information to supervisory staff and coworkers.

* Properly stores and disposes of general trash

* Properly disposes of regulated wastes such as Biohazard, electronic scrap, batteries, and chemicals.

* Prepares job-related reports and documentation as required

* Safely drive and operate a wide assortment of IEMS vehicles including 2x4 and 4x4 drive

* Safely drive and operate a wide assortment of IEMS vehicles while pulling 1 or 2 axle trailers weighing 10,000 lbs

ASSOCIATED JOB DUTIES

* Assists with the care and maintenance of the reserve fleet of ambulances including inspection of vehicles being returned by crews and if necessary, cleans, stocks, fuels, checks fluid levels and the operation of all ambulance related accessories

* Assists Warehouse Coordinator with determining need for materials requisitions and receives, stores and distributes hospital supplies, equipment and pharmaceuticals used by Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services and supported departments and external agencies.

* Assists in

* Maintaining emergency medical service (EMS) supply warehouse Par Level with emphasis on "radio room" ready supply

* Packaging, recording and delivering IEMS requisitions to crew stations located throughout Marion County

* Ensuring vehicles assigned to IEMS logistics are ready to respond to an emergency situation by inspecting, cleaning and maintaining vehicle inventory, fluids and emergency accessories

* Retrieving, inspecting, and cleaning IEMS equipment from area hospitals
