JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Temporary Facilities Laborer is assigned responsibility for the commercial building site in regards to cleaning, maintenance, and process support, to ensure the surrounding environment is in a suitable, clean condition to work. This is an on‑site role located in Iowa Falls, IA.

  • General landscaping and lawn care: watering, mowing and weed maintenance, trimming and replacing shrubs, applying lawn fertilizers, etc.
  • Internal and external building cleaning and maintenance; glass window cleaning, painting of hand rails, equipment or guards, light bulb replacement, general area clean up, etc.
  • Access to and usage of facilities equipment to complete work throughout this campus.
  • Support of general facility projects and repairs; picking up parts, assisting with equipment repair, cleaning equipment components, shadow various technician roles.
  • Operating POET fleet vehicles for maintenance service and cleanup.
  • Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
  • Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community.
  • Maintain and advance the food safety and quality of POET’s products and processes to deliver a best‑in‑class culture of quality.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Pursuing or completion of a high school diploma or equivalent education.
  • General safety awareness and willingness to take direction on task completion.
  • Must be self‑motivated with the ability to work independently on various projects.
  • Knowledge of the basics of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, steel‑toed boots, self‑contained breathing system, hazardous material suit, and hearing protection.

Work at extreme heights (approximately 150 ft), in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures from
-20 to +100 degrees Fahrenheit, both indoors and outdoors.

Be able to use the following equipment/tools, with training provided (not all encompassing): cleaning cart and supplies, forklift, riding and push lawn mower, bobcat sweeper, vacuum, snow blower, shovel, broom, mop, and ladder.

  • Frequently: walk on slippery surfaces; grip with a force of up to 20 lbs; push and pull with a force of up to 30 lbs; bend forward while standing; use repetitive arm motions to wipe down and maintain work area.
  • Occasionally: lift up to 50 lbs, with or without assistance; carry up to 50 lbs, with or without assistance; be in awkward back, shoulder, wrists, and hand positions.
  • Due to the physical and safety‑sensitive nature of this job, you will be subject to a physical and expected to pass a drug screen during the pre‑screen process. During employment, you’ll be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
