Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Grounds & Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining facility grounds and performing daily repairs on buildings and equipment. This role supports safe, efficient operations while ensuring high standards of animal welfare and property upkeep.
Key Responsibilities Grounds Operations- Operate and maintain equipment including mowers, tractors, skid loaders, snow removal equipment, and chain saws
- Perform lawn care activities such as mowing, edging, aerating, and weed control
- Remove snow and ice from walkways, driveways, and parking areas; apply salt as needed
- Trim trees, shrubs, and hedges; remove debris and litter
- Apply herbicides and insecticides safely and according to guidelines
- Maintain sidewalks, driveways, and facility grounds
- Conduct weekly generator inspections and maintain required documentation
- Monitor and maintain chlorine and propane levels
- Load, transport, and stage poultry litter/manure using a payloader or similar equipment
- Perform daily inspections to ensure animal health and welfare; address concerns promptly.
- Maintain grounds to reduce pest activity and protect flocks
- Coordinate with Maintenance Lead to complete assigned tasks
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment using manuals and schematics
- Perform preventive maintenance including inspection of motors, belts, and fluid levels
- Repair facilities, tools, and structures (fences, stairways, buildings)
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Follow all safety policies and work overtime as required

Education and/or Experience- Minimum of high school diploma
- Agricultural experience preferred
- Maintenance certification or equivalent experience
- Must be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification
- Previous experience in maintenance is required
- Safety programs and processes, such as Confined Space, LOTO, Hazcom, Hot Work, Electrical Safety, etc.
- CDL preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Strong ability to work alone or with little supervision
- Ability to determine causes of operating errors and be able to resolve them
- Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Strong knowledge in Pneumatics, and Power Transmission are required
Stand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 10 pounds frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and water, and chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Proper personal protective equipment will be required during certain working conditions. Employees are required to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
