As a Facilities Technician at YSS, you’ll be the go‑to person for keeping our spaces safe, functional, and looking great!
Responsibilities- Open and close office buildings as assigned.
- Meet daily with the Facilities Director and staff to coordinate activities.
- Utilize the work order ticketing system and facility management system.
- Conduct day‑to‑day maintenance operations for assigned buildings and parking lots.
- Support preventive maintenance and seasonal readiness programs for all locations.
- Use power equipment and miscellaneous tools for repairs and maintenance.
- Travel to provide services to outreach operations as required.
- Answer emergency calls evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
- Coordinate, communicate, and supervise vendors, contractors, and staff as assigned by the Director.
- Inventory and document equipment on a quarterly basis.
- Purchase approved supplies/materials as required.
- Operate office equipment such as phones, computers, copiers, and other tools as needed.
- Assist the Director with quarterly building reports.
- Assist with the contract bidding processes.
Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of hands‑on experience in the trades (carpentry, construction, custodial work, electrical, HVAC, maintenance, painting, plumbing, etc.).
- Valid Iowa driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proactive in identifying and fixing issues without waiting to be told.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Friendly, team‑oriented, and customer‑focus.
- Critical thinker and natural problem solver.
- Smart, efficient, and resourceful use of tools, time, and team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with work order or ticketing systems.
- Solid grasp of OSHA safety rules and building codes.
- Trade certifications proving expertise.
