Full time, Shift: Day. At Mercy One Dubuque, we are hiring a Housekeeper. The role ensures a clean and safe environment throughout the hospital and supports patient care through diligent housekeeping practices.

• Maintain a clean and safe environment in patient and non‑patient areas.
• Provide surface cleaning, floor and carpet care, and move equipment and furniture as needed.
• Empty trash and linen containers, perform high dusting, damp mop cleaning, bathroom cleaning, bed making, and wipe all horizontal surfaces including over‑bed tables.
• Maintain office and ancillary areas.
• Perform frequent audits for quality control.
• Differentiates between isolation areas and performs special isolation cleaning according to established procedures.
• Maintain clean carts, equipment, and janitor storage areas.
• Replenish supplies such as soap, tissues, towels, disposable items, and other necessary items.
• Report needed repairs for equipment, furniture, building, and fixtures to the appropriate person.
• May occasionally take direction from a nursing director or departmental supervisor regarding housekeeping needs.

6:30am – 3:00pm; every other weekend and holiday rotation.

• Previous janitorial and cleaning experience preferred.
• Previous experience with hospital standards, methods, and procedures is desirable but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with housekeeping chemicals and equipment.
• Ability to work with varying demands of patients, the public, and other employees.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work harmoniously with the health care team.
• Interacts with hospital staff, patients, and public contacts in a cordial, courteous, and helpful manner.
• Exhibits tact and diplomacy.

High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
