Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Position Summary
To troubleshoot, repair, overhaul equipment in several maintenance systems including machining, electrical, plumbing, or welding.
Responsibilities- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintenance of machine equipment and hand tools.
- Troubleshoot a problem beyond basic component replacement within two or more specific trades.
- Responsible for maintenance of equipment records, and administration of preventative maintenance programs.
- Installation, alteration, preventative maintenance & repair of various types of production equipment.
- Responsible for proper administration of LOTO, confined space and other OSHA guidelines.
- DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/ NON
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
- Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.
- Maintain production schedules.
- Work with groups in initiating and implementation of programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
- Other duties may be assigned later.
High School diploma or GED. Minimum of two years trade school or equivalent experience is preferred. Industrial experience in a similar industry preferred.
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficient in basic mechanical or electrical skills
- Excellent precision measuring ability
- Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and steam systems
- Understand practical aspects of preventative, predictive maintenance systems & proper lubrication selection & application
- Able to read blueprints and plans for construction at plant level.
- Basic computer skills – Microsoft Office package
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to use all general mechanical hand tools and light power tools
- Knowledge of light machine shop tools
- Understanding of low pressure hydraulic, pneumatic, with the ability to troubleshoot these systems.
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Self-motivated
- Detail oriented
