Summary:
The purpose of this position is to assist in the maintenance of Equestrian Center facilities before, during, and after community events; and to assist in the maintenance of Equine Program facilities, equipment, and livestock. The length of employment is routinely the academic year (fall and spring terms); however some work may be performed during the summer as needed
Essential
Job Duties:
- Clean out and assist in the maintenance of Equestrian Center stalls, equipment, and facility; including before, during, and after weekend events
- Set out bedding and prepare maintenance equipment for weekend events
- Assist with maintenance of riding arena footing
- Monitor ongoing events in rental facility during weekends
- Provide first aid and basic care to horses in educational program, including but not limited to: exercise, turnout, grooming, feeding, and watering.
- Other duties as assigned
Abilities:
Good people skills and a helpful attitude; ability to work independently or with other student workers to accomplish tasks; good organizational skills and ability to take direction; attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks; willingness to accept unfamiliar tasks/learn unfamiliar skills, including basic horse safety and equipment maintenance.
Education and Experience:
HS Diploma or equivalent
