Position

Purpose:

The primary purpose of your job position is to maintain the facility grounds, maintain facility equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines an regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by your supervisor, to assure that a successful maintenance program is maintained at all times.

Delegation of Authority:

As Maintenance Assistant you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary to carry out your assigned duties.

Job Functions:

Also assist in the following:

  • Perform effort to have attractive and well‑maintained facility grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, etc., as necessary/directed
  • Repair/Maintenance of machines, tools and equipment to ensure efficient operations
  • Provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations by maintaining utility systems, service heating and cooling unit/systems, as specified by the manufacturer, and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Conduct job responsibilities in accordance with facility policies and procedures, appropriate professional standards, and applicable state/federal laws
  • Ensure that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift or area
  • Participate and assist in department studies and projects as directed
  • Attend and participate in in‑service educational classes and on‑the‑job training programs, etc., as scheduled or as directed; workshops, seminars, ect., as directed; in annual facility in‑service training programs as scheduled, (e.g., OSHA, TB, HIPAA, Abuse Prevention, Safety, etc.)
  • Receive and follow maintenance schedule/instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in the facility established maintenance policies and procedures
  • Clean windows and screens, replace burned out light bulbs, to include, exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, perform cleaning duties wherever necessary
  • Ensure that equipment is clean and properly stored at the end of all shifts and that the facility and its equipment is properly maintained for resident comfort and convenience and must maintain the care and use of supplies and equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of work areas
  • Keep the Maintenance Supervisor informed of supply needs; report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your Maintenance Supervisor as soon as possible; turn in all found articles to the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Assist others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc. as directed or requested
  • Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information; knock on the door to each resident room prior to entering resident's rooms, honor the resident's personal and property rights; inform resident when it is necessary to move his/her personal possessions
  • Must have the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing maintenance practices
  • Must be able to work in all areas of the facility
  • Perform unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Education / Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Maintenance experience preferred
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language and to follow written and oral instructions
