The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI's brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. DFA serves the university as planning partners, problem solvers, and solution providers-striving to make it as easy as possible for people to get the services they need, when they need them.

Facilities Management is responsible for the effective operation of Irvine campus infrastructure including, buildings, grounds and utilities and central plant operations; for providing a safe, functionally suitable and aesthetic environment in support of academic, research and public service programs of the University. Providing comprehensive management of campus facilities requires the employment of approximately 325 personnel of both union represented and non-represented positions ranging in classification from custodians and groundskeepers to more technical skilled crafts such as electricians and plumbers, as well as professional design staff, engineers, and a tiered leadership team of approximately 30.

These services cover more than 150 buildings of approximately 46 million gross square feet, and 1,475 acres of grounds. Facilities Management has an annual operating budget exceeding $80 million in expenditures, with operating funds of $30 million and $15 million for reimbursable campus activities. Also manages a portfolio of major infrastructure and renovation projects totaling $200M.

Responsibilities

Incumbent prepares surfaces and applies an appropriate finish to interior and exterior substrate of wood, paneling, plaster, stucco, brick, block, ferrous and non-ferrous metals and drywall. Employee will exhibit experience and skill with regards to drywall finishing. Incumbent will operate and maintain conventional and airless spray equipment inclusive of a Wagner airless stripper. Employee will use and maintain paintbrushes, roller, ladders and scaffolding.

Will tint paints on a colorant tinting machine.

Qualifications

Required:

* Skill and knowledge with state of the art painting equipment; brushes, rollers, extension poles, scaffolding, steep and extension ladders.

* Skill and knowledge in patching walls, ceilings, wood filling, and knowledge of various materials to do above work.

* Skill and knowledge to do drywall finishing, including operating a Hopper gun for texturing effect.

* Skill and knowledge of acrylic, oil and/or stains and application by conventional or airless spray equipment on various material including wood, stucco, metal, block, but not excluding other surfaces or substances.

* Skill and knowledge to read and/or interpret blueprints and color schedules.

* Must be able to read, speak and write the English language well. To be able to follow written and oral instructions.

* Must be able to pass a medical examination for the purpose of wearing a required respirator.

* 1-3 yearswith state of the art painting equipment; brushes, rollers, extension poles, scaffolding, steep and extension ladders.

Driver's License:

* Required to hold a valid drivers license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
