Role Overview
The Facilities Technician (Energy Systems Operator) is responsible for the monitoring, maintenance, and operation of industrial utility equipment such as steam boilers, fuel cells, compressed air, emergency generators, cooling towers, chillers, HVAC systems, gas distribution, plumbing, life safety systems, and water generation systems at the
B. Braun Irvine facility.
Onsite, 3/4 X 12 shift hours. Days of work:
Thursday, Saturday, Friday, Wednesday. Some overtime may be required.
- Repair and maintain organizational facilities, systems, or equipment.
- Receive facilities maintenance work order requests from employees, customers, or visitors.
- Prioritize and perform timely repairs; triage requests for critical issues.
- Inspect and carry out preventive maintenance or as‑needed repairs on mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC, generators, power management, water systems, and building management systems.
- Perform basic repairs and coordinate specialist work for complex repairs.
- Schedule maintenance or repairs to minimize operational disruption.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- 6+ years as a stationary engineer and/or building management systems operator.
- Ability to work non‑standard schedules as required.
- Associate’s or technical degree.
- California and/or Los Angeles County steam license.
Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and use hands and arms. Occasional standing, walking, bending, twisting, lifting, and moving up to 20 lbs may be required.
Work ClassificationLight work: exerts up to 20 lbs occasionally; 10 lbs frequently; negligible force constantly.
Environmental ConditionsFrequently works in proximity to moving parts and other operational elements within a production/manufacturing environment.
Salary & CompensationSalary range: $36–$40 per hour. Benefits include healthcare, a 401(k) plan, and tuition reimbursement.
