Custodian
Under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities and/or the school site administrator(s), with direction from the Lead Custodian, the Custodian keeps assigned building areas clean, sanitary, safe and orderly; periodically does special cleaning and building maintenance; and performs other related duties and responsibilities as required. Incumbent in this class may also be asked to assist and support other members of the Maintenance Division in the completion of their assigned duties.
Interview candidates may be asked about the possibility of serving in a substitute custodian position if vacant positions have been filled.
Qualifications:

Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 2.
Experience:
Two years or equivalent experience in cleaning and maintaining building areas, preferably in a school setting; and/or any combination of related training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities. Basic computer knowledge.
3. Licenses:
Possession of a valid California Driver's License and the ability to qualify for District vehicle insurance coverage. Ability to obtain all required federal, state, and local licenses and/or certification as necessary for cleaning materials, equipment, etc. Application Procedure:

Work Calendar: 8.0 hours per day, Tuesday – Saturday, twelve months.
* For Tuesday through Friday, shift hours are 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., and for Saturday, the hours are 8:00 a.m.
-- 4:30 p.m. Work hours incorporate an unpaid, duty-free lunch break of 30 minutes. The chosen candidate for the position will be asked to start immediately in the position, once clearances from a fingerprinting background check and tuberculosis assessment are confirmed. A new classified employee must pass a six-month probationary period to become a permanent employee of the District. A current employee must pass a six-month probationary period in a new position when the new position is a permanent assignment in a higher classification.
Salary:
Placement on classified salary range 21 is dependent on experience as a custodian. The annual salary ranges from $41,282 to $52,655, which corresponds to $3,440.18 to $4,387.90 per month or $19.85 to $25.31 per hour. Employees whose regular work hours begin at 2:30 p.m. or after receive a night shift differential of $0.50 per hour. The monthly salary is disbursed in two paychecks, on the 10th and 25th of the month.
Benefits:
An excellent benefits package is offered to employees who work 50% or more of a full-time position, with the District contributing up to $20,406 per year per employee. The benefits year runs October 1 through September 30. Eligible employees hired after August 1, 2026 may be assessed a late start payment in order to bring the new hire into compliance with the premium payment schedule.
If not already a member, the new employee will be enrolled in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS).
