Student Housing is a self-funded, large and complex campus department consisting of 6 housing communities and 3 support units, with more than 300 staff employees, 300-400 student employees and an annual operating budget of $120 million. Student Housing provides housing for approximately 9,000 undergraduates, graduate students and their families in over 250 buildings and approximately 3.3 million sq. ft. Currently, Student Housing houses 51% of UCI's enrolled students (in conjunction with American Campus Communities, UCI's 3rd party housing partner) with a goal of housing 60% as part of the campus Long Range Development Plan (LRDP).
Student Housing also provides maintenance and repair services to student residents.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Undergraduate Operations and the Custodial Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the direction and coordination of custodial operations. Responsibilities may include weekend work during opening and closing as well as the conference season. May also include after-hours emergency response and cleaning responsibilities. Receives predetermined work assignments that are subject to a moderate level of control and review.
Instructs direct reports to complete assignments using established guidelines, procedures and policies. Requires full knowledge of own area of functional responsibility. May perform custodial duties part of the time.
Qualifications
Required:
* Basic computer application skills.
* Working knowledge of and ability for decision making, reasoning, ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, and perform operations analysis, and quality control analysis.
* Working knowledge in custodial and housekeeping services.
* Organizational skills, and independence in completing detailed tasks.
* Working knowledge and skill in effective interpersonal and work leadership skills to provide guidance to other personnel. Demonstrated ability to build and lead a team as well as participate as a team player.
* Verbal and written communication skills in the English language, active listening, flexibility, critical thinking, multi-tasking, and time management.
* Skill in hiring selection, promotion and decisions concerning corrective actions.
* Working knowledge of custodial equipment and chemicals, institutional furnishings, floor coverings, and window treatments.
* Ability to coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule and coordinate rapid and complex turnovers.
* Leadership and communication skills.
* Ability to maintain diplomacy in difficult situations and maintain confidentiality.
* Experience supervising and evaluating custodial staff.
Driver's License:
* Required to hold a valid drivers license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
Preferred:
* Knowledge in purchasing, inventory control, and reporting damages.
* Ability to speak/translate Spanish.
* Knowledge to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Knowledge of floor, carpet, drapery and upholstery care and maintenance.
* High school diploma or equivalent certification preferred.
Special Conditions:
* Must be available for some overtime and weekend work.
* Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing for the purpose of instructions and record keeping.
* Must be able to climb stairs.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $57,100- $64,523 (Annual).Conditions of Employment:
