Student Center & Event Services provides the campus community and its guests with a variety of services and venues for social, recreational, cultural, and educational pursuits and is the primary resource for individuals/groups interested in holding a meeting, seminar, summer conference program or other event at UC Irvine.
Your Role on the TeamUnder direction of the Environmental Services Manager, the Custodial Supervisor is responsible for planning, assigning and supervising the work and training of Night Custodians on multiple shifts engaged in cleaning, sanitation and maintenance tasks. The incumbent provides oversight for all evening and night custodial work activity in the UC Irvine's Student Center and associated facilities, ensuring that assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner.
Specific oral and written instructions accompany major assignments but the incumbent makes ordinary decisions and is responsible for planning work schedules and methods.
- Skill in utilizing standard and specialized custodial equipment
- Knowledge and experience to perform typical and specialized cleaning of recreation facilities, restrooms, wood floors, rubber floors and carpeted spaces.
- Knowledge of standard custodial practices
- Knowledge of floor scrubbers, vacuums, carpet machines and other mechanical cleaning equipment
- Knowledge of appropriate hazardous waste disposal policies and procedures
- Knowledge of work loading for both Zone and Specialist /"Team" Cleaning Systems
- Ability to work independent of direct supervision
- Ability to utilize computers for work - email, training programs, researching University materials
- Ability to give and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to learn cleaning requirements of new flooring and finishing materials, as well as conference equipment
- Ability to supervise the work of others
- Ability to train and review other personnel
- High school diploma or equivalent certification preferred.
- 3-5 years Supervisor role in custodial and/or general oversight of staff.
- Required to hold a valid drivers license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
- Ability to speak and write in Spanish and English
- Working knowledge of excel and word software
- Possess reasonable typing speed
- Knowledge of work loading for additional Cleaning Systems
- Experience working nights
- Bloodborne pathogens and sharps disposal training.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends if needed
- Must accept a Monday – Friday work week beginning at approximately 6:30pm and ending at 3:00am, including occasional overtime, and monthly weekend assignments.
- Possession at time of hire continued maintenance of a valid California Class C driver’s license and a safe driving record.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $57,100-$70,200 annually.
