Position: Plant Maintenance Technician - 3rd Shift (Eligible for a up to a $5,000 sign on bonus)

Summary

The Plant Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor. The technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines, and equipment using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring testing instruments. They diagnose components, determine when adjustments or repairs are required, and will take on increased levels of responsibility with experience.

Housekeeping/cleaning duties are required as needed throughout the shift.

Responsibilities
  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and troubleshoot problems.
  • Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Inspect used parts to determine dimensional changes using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand and/or power tools.
  • Repair or replace defective parts.
  • Advise the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager of operational problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Comply with all safety, health, environmental, and company policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Perform preventative plant maintenance.
  • Conduct general plant maintenance inspection and diagnosis & repairs.
  • Perform welding & cutting as needed.
  • Maintain, repair, and clean MRF equipment, including upper and lower shaker decks, conveyor tunnels, walking floor tunnels, conveyor beds, and head & tail pulleys.
  • Maintain, repair, and clean exhaust fans, including air and carbon filters.
Required Qualifications
  • 1 year(s) of experience in maintenance & repair in a production‑style environment.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Fabrication knowledge (Mig/Tig/Arc/Oxy Acetylene/brazing, etc.).
  • Sufficient working knowledge of plant component repairs and replacements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify electrical/mechanical issues and complete tasks safely and timely.
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Consistently behave in a professional and appropriate manner.
  • Valid Class C driver’s license and acceptable driver’s record.
  • Must possess personal tools and have a toolbox.
  • Can perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Trade school certification.
  • Spanish‑English bilingual.
  • Welder certification.
  • Experience in the waste, rock & sand, concrete, and/or asphalt industry.
Physical/Environmental Demands

Physical: Standing, walking, seeing, hearing, & smelling continuously; problem solving, oral/written communication, analytical ability, concentration; exposure to unprotected heights, heavy machinery, eye/hand coordination, and continuous handling; bending, reaching, stretching, crouching, & lifting up to 50 lbs. continually.
Environmental: Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet slippery surfaces, hot/cold conditions, and noise constantly. Works inside and outside.

Compensation

Hourly wage: $29.33 – $37.40 per hour.

Schedule

Monday – Saturday, 9:00pm – 5:30am.
