A Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for working within and managing a preventive maintenance program which includes; scheduling, coordinating, and performing maintenance activities to minimize disruptions and equipment repairs. The role includes troubleshooting & repair, proper log and reporting of maintenance, and timely communication to all affected teams.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all established safety and PPE policies.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Learn the capabilities of all machines.
- Proper start-up, set-up, and shut-down procedures for all machines.
- Calling programs on machines for specific part runs.
- Review, understand and troubleshoot error codes.
- Ability to move machines into service modes or locations to provide full maintenance access.
- Perform predictive maintenance in conjunction with established maintenance schedule.
- Learn and administer specific cleaning procedures to all machines, as per schedule.
- Report, log and incorporate issues related to specific machine predictive maintenance.
- Update and track consumables (oil, endmills, blades, countersinks, etc..).
- Update and track back-up parts inventory and requisition new parts for purchase.
- Maintain Microsoft To-Do list for all maintenance requirements (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly).
- Report any issues within department, including, but not limited to, Quality Control, maintenance, inventory, and safety
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with affected departments.
- Identify and share process improvements for maintenance efficiency.
- The position includes work in all campus facilities.
- Additional tasks as needed.
Must Haves:
- Strong technical expertise in maintenance processes, equipment, and technologies.
- Effective communication skills for conveying maintenance plans and safety protocols.
- Effective problem-solving abilities, especially in diagnosing and resolving maintenance issues.
- Project management skills to handle multiple maintenance projects simultaneously.
- Ability to accurately read measuring devices, including tape measure, caliper, micrometer, etc.
- Knowledge and ability to modify CNC programming.
- Ability to enact and follow proper decontamination protocol.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related field (preferred).
- 1 year of experience in machine maintenance
- Experience with safety regulations, such as OSHA, and environmental compliance.
