Duties Description Supervises Facility Operations Assistants 1, or other grounds, custodial, or maintenance crew, providing work assignments based on priorities set by management, ensuring schedules, standards and guidelines are met.

Maintains written records of work performed and labor and materials used; reports orally to the supervisor on the progress of projects under way.

Performs routine semiskilled preventive maintenance on vehicles to ensure safe and efficient operation such as: monitors gauges and checks fluid levels, tire pressure, safety equipment and trailer hitches; replaces burned-out bulbs; pumps gas/fuel; adds water to radiator, oil to engine/crank case, and air to tires as required; and changes tires and oil.

May use and operate a variety of hand and power tools and motorized equipment including self-propelled and stationary machinery.

Responds to equipment problems by solving minor ones and directing major ones to a supervisor.

Oversight and completion of daily tasks associated with raising ring-neck pheasants of varying age classes, caring for and maintaining 166 acre facility (Including use of hand and power tools, grounds care equipment and tractor operation), leading work crews in completion of minor construction projects, work planing, and ensuring that annual and daily production goals of pheasant propagation are met.

Minimum Qualifications One year of service as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 or Motor Vehicle Operator; OR, two years of full-time, verifiable experience in custodial, grounds, or maintenance operation or assisting in a journey-level trade. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.

Experience raising and caring for gamebirds preferred.

Additional Comments This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 11/30/2026. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.

Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.

Must be able to work in remote areas.

Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.

Travel may be required.

Overtime may be required.

Weekends and holidays may be required.

Must be available for emergency response.

Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies.

Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
