Under the supervision and direction of the Director of Facilities, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing general maintenance, repair tasks and custodial tasks to ensure the school's facilities are safe, functional, and welcoming.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including minor HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and drywall repairs.
- Ensure the safety and cleanliness of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and outdoor areas.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist with setup and cleanup for school events, such as Masses, fundraisers, athletic activities, and extracurricular events.
- Assist with snow/ice removal, lawn service, and landscaping, as needed.
- May require occasional evening and weekend work.
- Serve as a keyholder for opening/closing the school, when required.

- Ability to stand, sit, bend, twist, stoop, reach and grasp, walk push, pull or lift materials or equipment weighing 50 pounds or more. Ability to use ladders, handcart, power tools, shovel, rake, snow blower, vacuum, mop, and floor buffer.
- Must be able to perform frequent pushing or pulling of product weighing up to 250 pounds on a dolly or cart, as well as occasional pushing or pulling of freight weighing up to 90 pounds without a mechanical aid.
- Must be able to manually lower and raise lift, attach and release safety chains, open and close cargo doors, climb into and off of vehicles and check engine fluid levels.
- Work in all types of weather.
- Maintain a positive customer service attitude (internal and external).
- Take and follow direction.
- Work independently without supervision and meet deadlines.
- Work a determined schedule that might include early mornings, evenings and weekends.
- Organize work successfully and give attention to detail.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Two years of similar job experience. Or one year of technical vocational training or trade school or specialized training in electrical, heating, cooling, plumbing maintenance and carpentry or combination of training and experience is desired.
- Successful completion and results of a Criminal Background Check.
- Completion of VIRTUS training.
- Possession of valid Michigan Driver's License.
