Position will function as a senior level Storekeeper, responsible for providing supplies and commodities to all Jackson Complex Facilities. Duties include ordering, receiving, distributing commodities—including fresh, refrigerated, and frozen food—as well as performing general warehouse activities as assigned by the department supervisor. The role reports to work within the secure perimeter fence of a Level‑1 Facility (SMT).
Responsibilities- Order, receive, and distribute commodities (fresh, refrigerated, frozen food).
- Perform general warehouse related activities.
- Supervise prisoners during performance of duties, enforce facility rules, and participate in the disciplinary process.
- Complete 40 hours of annual mandatory training related to prisoner contact and supervision.
- May require a Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

One year of experience in the storage, handling, and distribution of materials, or in the operation of mail handling and sorting machines and related equipment. - Storekeeper 7:
Three years of experience in the storage, handling, and distribution of materials, or in the operation of mail handling and sorting machines and related equipment, including two years equivalent to the Storekeeper E6. Some positions within this class series require possession of a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) may be required.
- The Department of Corrections will not hire individuals convicted of a felony or with felony charges pending, in accordance with Public Act 140 of 1996.
- Applicants with misdemeanor or felony convictions are ineligible until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.
New hires will complete Non‑Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) with either 40 or 80 hours of initial in‑person training based on level of offender contact and job classification, along with additional online training. Overnight travel may be required for NCNET.
