Maintenance Welder
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform a wide range of welding, brazing, burning, and soldering operations on various metal components. This role requires the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, set up and operate welding equipment, and maintain high-quality standards in all welding processes.
Responsibilities- Perform welding in all positions on similar and dissimilar metals for structural and mechanical strength.
- Interpret drawings, shop orders, process sheets, and specifications to determine applicable methods and techniques.
- Set up and operate carbon arc, metal arc, inert gas shielded pulse arc welding, and oxyacetylene welding equipment.
- Select appropriate rods, wires, tips, and electrodes for each job requirement.
- Position work on tables, plates, or fixtures and secure with clamps or other holding devices.
- Tack weld as necessary and inspect for adherence to dimensional and quality requirements.
- Ensure smooth bead laying, proper penetration, and fusion while avoiding metal burning, discoloration, or distortion.
- Preheat or post-heat metals as required and flame harden parts as per process requirements.
- Perform hand or machine burning of heavy plates to produce various shapes and sizes of parts.
- Dispose of scrap and trimmings; chip, grind, and clean welds as necessary.
- Detect defective materials or operating difficulties and report them to the supervisor.
- Maintain specified records of work performed.
- Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.
- Adhere to 5S, Lean, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Verify workpiece weldment specifications using standard measuring instruments.
- Procure first piece inspection approval.
- Perform duties following company safety policies and report unsafe conditions.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jackson, MI.
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Jackson, MI.
