Location:

Job Summary:
To ensure efficient operation of our central plant and related equipment. To maintain the functionality and safety of UMMC’s critical infrastructure including, boilers, chillers and pumps.

Responsibilities- Operate and maintain central plant equipment, including boilers, chillers, pumps, and related systems.
- Monitor and adjust equipment settings to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on central plant equipment.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and system failures.
- Perform necessary repairs or coordinate and collaborate with other facilities technicians on complex repairs.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment, and assist in maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment inspections, maintenance, and repairs, as well as detailed logs of central plant operations and maintenance activities.
- Implement energy-saving measures and strategies to reduce operational costs.

Education and Experience Required
:
High School Diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience with operating and maintaining boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, utility systems, or industrial mechanical equipment.
Required:
Valid Driver's License.
Vocational or technical training in stationary engineering.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Strong knowledge of central plant equipment, including boilers, chillers and HVAC systems.
- Skilled in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team, including on-call and rotating shift schedules.
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy equipment and perform manual tasks as needed.
Requires frequent exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, frequent handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, occasional exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, frequent activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, frequent work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, frequent bending, occasional lifting and carrying more than 100 pounds, frequent climbing, occasional crawling, frequent crouching/stooping, occasional driving, frequent kneeling, frequent pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, occasional sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking.
