Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Fleet Maintenance Manager
Position Summary
Completes work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources; collaborating with managers, co‑workers, customers, and other business partners; identifying priorities, deadlines, and expectations; carrying out tasks; communicating progress and information; determining and recommending ways to solve improvement opportunities; and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback. Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans and applying these in executing business processes and practices.
Responsibilities- Perform basic to intermediate inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs and replacements on all Walmart equipment (trailers, tractors, yard trucks, shop equipment, service vehicles).
- Create and process work orders and assess maintenance, repair, and replacement needs.
- Identify needed parts and solutions, select the best possible solution.
- Conduct maintenance repairs and replacements, e.g., repairing and replacing brake system components such as air, antiskid, ABS disc brakes; replacing leaky wheel seals; dismounting/installing tractor‑trailer tires, following company and DOT guidelines.
- Communicate with customers, suppliers and associates verbally and in writing; complete work‑order records, logs and other required documents.
- Receive fuel drops and conduct fuel sampling, monitor drop for safety compliance, follow procedures for fuel additives, monitor tank levels, collect and prepare fuel samples for analysis and shipping, and complete appropriate paperwork.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license.
- Brake inspection qualification defined in FMCSA Regulations, § 396.25.
- Vehicle inspection qualification defined in FMCSA Regulations, § 396.19.
- Microsoft Office ASE Certification.
- DOT Transportation Certification.

- Hourly wage range: $29.80 – $33.30 (additional premium $0.35–$3.00 per hour depending on schedule, facility, season or specific work performed).
