The Custodian / Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout all Jackson Regional Airport facilities. This position serves as the primary airport custodian and plays a vital role in creating a first-class experience for passengers, tenants, visitors, and employees.

The primary responsibility of this position is the custodial care of the airport's facilities, including the passenger terminal, Airport Authority offices, FAA facilities, control tower, auxiliary buildings, public restrooms, sidewalks, parking lots, and common areas. Maintaining exceptional cleanliness and presentation standards is the highest priority of this position.

In addition to custodial responsibilities, this position serves as a member of the Airport Maintenance Team and may assist with mowing, painting, minor facility repairs, grounds maintenance, and other maintenance-related duties as assigned. Custodial responsibilities shall take precedence over maintenance assignments.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities (Maintenance Secondary):

• Assist with mowing and trimming airport grounds.
• Assist with landscaping and seasonal grounds maintenance.
• Perform painting and touch-up work on airport buildings and facilities.
• Assist with light carpentry and general facility repairs.
• Help maintain sidewalks, parking lots, and exterior public spaces.
• Assist with setting up and breaking down airport events.
• Help move furniture, equipment, and supplies.
• Support airport maintenance projects as assigned.
• Assist during weather events and emergency operations when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in commercial custodial services, facilities maintenance, or a related field preferred.
• Experience operating commercial cleaning equipment is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of facility maintenance and repair techniques is desirable.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to interact professionally with the public, tenants, airline personnel, contractors, and fellow employees.
• Valid Tennessee driver's license required.
• Must be able to pass state and federal background checks.

Physical Requirements:

The employee must regularly:

• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and reach overhead.
• Operate commercial custodial and maintenance equipment.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Safely handle cleaning chemicals and maintenance materials.

Work is performed in public buildings, office environments, airport operational facilities, and outdoor airport grounds. Employees routinely interact with the traveling public, airport tenants, FAA personnel, TSA personnel, contractors, and Airport Authority staff. The position requires maintaining a professional appearance and positive attitude while representing Jackson Regional Airport.
