PositionSnapshot – Role
A Fleet Mechanic is commonly expected to know how to ensure timely and accurate preventative and non‑preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles (Tractors, Trailers, Cool Lifts, Standard Vehicles). This position will also troubleshoot issues and provide feedback for suggestions. To be successful in this role you will:
- Perform required inspections and preventative maintenance under the guidance of the Fleet Shop Manager on vehicles and equipment (Tractors, Trailers, Converter Dollies, Lift Gates, Light Duty Vehicles, etc.) to maximize safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the lifecycle of the fleet.
- Perform technical inspections, determine repair parts required, and perform mechanical maintenance action and repairs on various fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Perform diagnostic tests, using measuring devices, instruments, test equipment, special tools and lifting devices, to identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and cooling system failures.
- Assist with and provide recommendations on all aspects of fleet operations including expected maintenance costs, warranty repairs, and parts availability.
- Maintain and coordinate repair/purchase and fabrication of all mobile/permanent equipment.
- Report to the Fleet Shop Manager with respect to operator performance affecting the mechanical condition of the equipment.
- Perform routine and non‑routine repairs on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and cooling systems and components, on equipment.
- Prepare, maintain, and complete logs, records, and all required Quality Control forms.
- 2+ Years previous work experience preferred.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to follow OSHA safety protocols.
- Ability to work with technology/applications/iPad.
- Ability to consistently lift 50 lbs. and push products weighing up to 75 lbs.
- Provide and maintain personally owned tools in good working condition.
