Custodian Job Summary

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the facility. This position performs routine cleaning, sanitation, and light maintenance duties while following established safety procedures.

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean floors throughout assigned areas.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and fixtures.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners.
• Dust and wipe down furniture, counters, doors, windowsills, and other surfaces.
• Clean breakrooms, offices, hallways, common areas, and other assigned spaces.
• Replenish restroom and cleaning supplies, including paper products and soap.
• Clean windows, glass doors, and other glass surfaces as needed.
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to manufacturer instructions and safety procedures.
• Maintain custodial equipment and keep cleaning supplies properly stored.
• Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, spills, or damaged equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
• Follow OSHA, workplace safety, and chemical-handling procedures.
• Place wet-floor signs and other safety warnings when necessary.
• Perform other general cleaning and custodial duties as assigned.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Ability to operate standard custodial equipment, including vacuums, mops, brooms, and floor-cleaning equipment.
• Ability to safely work around cleaning chemicals and follow SDS instructions.

• Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, safety, and detail.
