Beach Access Site Maintenance Position
This is a part time temporary/seasonal position (May through September 30) working 36 to 40 hours per week; not eligible for benefits. This position mostly works at Onslow County Beach access sites. Performs semiskilled work maintaining parks and play areas, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Park Operations Supervisor. Responsibilities

- Maintains a safe, comfortable, and clean environment at Beach Access sites
- Ensures accessibility, safety, and security of Beach sites and grounds.
- Perform daily inspections of beach accesses, crossovers, and surrounding areas to ensure public safety, cleanliness, and ADA accessibility
- Cleans and restocks restrooms, ensuring facilities are sanitary, odor-free, and fully stocked
- Removes litter and debris from beach areas, walkways, and parking areas. Empties trash and recycling receptacles
- Conducts light maintenance and basic repairs to crossovers, signage, fencing and related infrastructure
- Provides friendly and professional assistance to beach goers regarding facility use, rules, safety protocols and general inquiries
- Maintains accurate logs of inspections, maintenance performed, and issues reported
- Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed or volunteers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Some knowledge of the tools, materials and equipment used in coastal site maintenance, including cleaning and light repair of beach access structures, restrooms, and signage; some knowledge of the materials and techniques used in the care of public-use coastal areas; some knowledge of safety precautions applicable to beach environments, including heat exposure, debris, and weather-related hazards; ability to inspect and identify maintenance issues along crossovers and public beach areas;
ability to perform manual labor in an outdoor environment for extended periods of time, including walking on sand and in high heat/humidity; ability to interact professionally with the public and provide basic information to beach goers; ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the general public
Special Requirements
High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in grounds maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirement:
Valid Drivers License. This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires sitting, speaking or hearing, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling;
work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken…
