The Maintenance Manager provides leadership, acts as a coach, mentor, and facilitator for the Maintenance Department. The Maintenance Manager will be expected to foster teamwork within the workplace while utilizing daily measures to achieve results. This position is also responsible for hiring, coaching, training, employee evaluations and performance reviews, and taking corrective action when needed. This position requires good knowledge of production processes and plant infrastructure.

He/She understands the relationship of the production process and supply chain to direct and coordinate activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment. The Maintenance Manager oversees the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of the plant by performing duties personally or through subordinates. In addition, the Maintenance Manager coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services such as equipment, tools, parts, and supplies for the organization.

The Maintenance Manager must have the ability to anticipate and prevent problems within the supply chain and address them in a timely manner. He/She sets and communicates quantifiable goals for maintenance and inventory functions while complying with the processes established by finance, human resources, quality, safety, engineering, and maintenance functions. The Maintenance Manager must be a change agent who uses the company’s vision and strategy in his/her communications.

• Manages the execution of the maintenance program to ensure effective and efficient service.
• Works in conjunction with the production team to maintain throughput and plant efficiencies while continuously striving to reduce plant downtime and improve the preventive maintenance program.
• Ensures PMCS procedures are carried out in accordance with SOP and SSOP in a timely manner.
• Uses statistical process control tools to plan and modify maintenance activities, and to establish and monitor plant utilities and services.
• Inspects machines and processes for conformance to operational standards.
• Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
• Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, seeking feedback from end users, or examining items.
• Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine the source of trouble and take corrective action.
• Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
• Coordinates activities of workers conducting maintenance or purchasing in such a manner as to improve service and lower costs where possible.
