Stationary Engineer

Jersey City Medical Center, Plant Operations Department

Pay Range: $33.35 per hour

Shift: Day

The Stationary Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of boilers and related power plant equipment.

• Work independently and follow repair tasks through completion.
• Use and maintain ATC/BMS systems.
• Accurately troubleshoot equipment for repairs.
• Maintain inventory and equipment history.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including annual shutdown, cleaning, and inspection of boilers.
• Collect data on boilers, water treatment, temperature, and fuel consumption.
• Complete required documentation for all work performed, accurately and legibly.
• Inspect equipment to ensure safety regulations are met and efficient operation is maintained.
• Maintain sufficient stock of materials for repairs.
• Keep daily records of completed work.
• Perform emergency repairs on boiler equipment and related devices.
• Respond to temperature control problems in line with staff and patient satisfaction guidelines.
• Take care of the Medical Center’s tools and equipment.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of the work area.
• Enter work into the work order system.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years as a Power Plant Operating Engineer.
• Oral and written communication skills; computer literacy with ability to read operating and service manuals.

• New Jersey High Pressure Black Seal Steam.

• Full-time day shift.
