The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Housekeeper/ Laundry Attendant at Georgia Regional Hospital - Atlanta, located in Decatur, GA.
Under general supervision, performs routine housekeeping and laundry-related duties to maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and an orderly environment within the facility. Ensures linens, clothing, and other washable items are properly collected, cleaned, dried, folded, stored, and distributed in accordance with established procedures and safety standards.
Job Responsibilities- Collects soiled linens, clothing, towels, and other washable items from designated areas throughout the facility.
- Sorts laundry according to established procedures, fabric type, color, and level of soil.
- Operates commercial washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
- Measures and uses appropriate detergents, disinfectants, and other cleaning products according to established guidelines.
- Folds, organizes, labels, stores, and distributes clean linens and clothing to appropriate areas.
- Maintains accurate inventory of linens and laundry supplies and reports shortages as needed.
- Inspects laundry items for stains, damage, or excessive wear and removes unsuitable items from circulation when appropriate.
- Maintains laundry work areas and equipment in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition.
- Follows infection-control, sanitation, safety, and hazardous-material handling procedures.
- Reports equipment malfunctions, maintenance concerns, or unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintains appropriate separation of clean and soiled laundry to prevent contamination.
- Provides courteous and professional service when interacting with staff, patients, residents, and other facility personnel.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- One (1) year of experience in a related area of assignment; OR one (1) year of experience at the lower-level Housekeeper 1 (FES
040) or equivalent position.
- Previous experience working in a commercial, institutional, hospital, healthcare, or large-scale laundry environment.
- Experience operating commercial laundry equipment.
- Knowledge of proper sanitation, infection-control, and safety procedures.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established work procedures.
- Ability to perform repetitive physical activities, including standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and transporting laundry carts.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- FOR THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT, STATE LAW REQUIRES A NATIONAL AND STATE BACKGROUND CHECK AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.
- Current Driver’s License (Have the ability to drive state vehicles)
