Job Summary: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED
- Meet physical requirements:
- Able to lift heavy loads not to exceed 50 lbs.
- Able to climb and work from ladder, scaffolding, or personnel lift
- Able to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Training and experience in mechanics, heating, plumbing, carpentry, electricity and painting desired
- Ability to read basic operating instructions and write reports
- Work experience in educational setting preferred
- Fireman or engineer license preferred
- Valid Iowa drivers and/or chauffeurs license required
- Possess collaborative and interpersonal skills
Successful completion of a criminal background check and physical capacity profile test will be required upon offer.

- Performs general cleaning and maintenance of the school building. This includes:
- Cleaning and maintaining all equipment as assigned
- Assisting in necessary painting and general repairs to plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general mechanical areas
- Assisting in remodeling and renovation work
- Reporting major repairs or damage to school property promptly to the Building Head Custodian, Principal or Director of Buildings and Grounds
- Performing emergency repair or cleaning services as necessary
- Assisting in emergency evacuation situations
- Locking of doors and windows of assigned building(s)
- Cleaning corridors during the day when conditions require it
- Participates in the general maintenance of the school grounds. This includes:
- Assisting in snow removal
- Assists in the moving of classroom furniture, materials, and equipment when need arises
- Provides input in setting daily schedules and demonstrates initiative in getting duties completed in a timely manner
- Duties and responsibilities as requested by supervisor may vary from time to time
